Linda Popple sent me these pictures so that I could do her mugshot. Her own mugshots are very lively and interesting, please stop by and see them: Click here.

  1. nice painting. Got a question. Remember when I was in drawing class, one of my professors said it wasn't good to draw from the picture because it was hard to catch the lighting. However, I don't see any issue on your paintings. So want to know what your think is? Was my professor wrong? thanks :)

  2. HI Kimchi - Thanks for your comment. I think your professor was right. But if you set up your own photo with emphasis on the light you want to paint, you can give yourself a better shot at getting it right. I agree it's better to always paint from nature, and always a model, but who can do that, so expensive. By painting sometimes with a model you can learn what light does and then you get better at interpreting the photo in a more realistic way. When I have the big bucks I will always use a model, but till that day I will make do.
