Still on the full/empty theme: if "all things are understood by means of comparison", then can the painting be made to work with crowded forms and empty space? Could the crowding even go in the middle - dead center - with the space surrounding? Lots of ways to go with this one.
Wow - you're on a roll. I love the orange and white stripe - paper? I have some I use in my collages alot and I'm always sooo drawn to it. Love the orange relections in the kiwi. Full/empty... could you paint one for me... I can't seem to come up with an idea...
ReplyDeleteYes, lunch!
Really nice, Jean! Love the orange stripes with the greens. I like how you handled the light on the fabric--the brightest area is on the left, and gradually darkens into the shadows. I'm wondering if you used a black background on this?
ReplyDeleteSo, today I was at Sprouts buying my produce for the week and I found myself wondering what Jean Townsend was going to paint this week! Great concept for full/empty, really like the grouping complimented by the negative space, also, the range of greens are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love those colors
ReplyDeleteDo you put salt on kiwi? Wondering. I know some people put salt on watermelon. So healthy. We all need way more salt in our diets.
ReplyDeleteI love this painting. You are so good with the patterned backgrounds. Really like the composition in this piece too.
Am so behind on commenting on blogs (and everything else) but I am amazed at all of your wonderful radish paintings. So great. You are a painting fiend.
Love, love, love, the color and feel of this painting - just came across your blog - beautiful.
